| 1. *A poster board presentation that profiles your town/city, you, your hobbies, accomplishments...and all of the fabulous facts about you! This is not a judged event...just a way to get to know more about you.* |
| 2. *A platform speech presentation that is no shorter than 2 minutes and no longer than 2 1/2 minutes. Tell the judges a little bit about yourself and what your platform as Ms. Wheelchair Massachusetts will be. What issue/issues do you feel passionately about? WOW the judges with your conviction as you will be judged on your platform speech presentation!* |
| 3. *Get ready to present yourself as a powerful advocate in your own special way! It will be a long day so comfortable attire is recommended...be yourself...and present yourself to the judges during your one-on-one interviews as you might to legislators, students and interviewers as Ms. Wheelchair Massachusetts!* |

| Judging Criteria The Ms. Wheelchair Massachusetts judging is based upon criteria established by the Board of Directors of the Ms. Wheelchair America Program. Accomplishments 1. Personal achievements/accomplishments since onset of disability only in the areas of: *Academic accomplishments *Vocational accomplishments *Personal accomplishments 2. Adjustments to disability Communication Skills 1. Ability to deal with media, peers, civic groups, etc. 2. Public relations skills 3. Advocacy for persons with disabilities 4. Self-confidence/motivation/initiative/creativity Self Perception/Projection **Poise/demeanor **Appropriate attire/personal presentation **Ms. Wheelchair Massachusetts is not a beauty contest and therefore this is not a license to choose the most attractive participant. Instead, the items in this category are simply to express a desire to have a pleasing appearance capable of obtaining favorable responses from any audience before which Ms. Wheelchair Massachusetts would appear.** |
